The Journey
Dad and I made it safely to Vermont Friday. The drive, which I wanted to do in 2 days, took 3 days. We didn't get out until late on Wednesday and drove for about 8 hours each day. Most of my stuff, and Marcus's stuff, is somewhere between Omaha and Burlington. We used u-pack relocubes for our move and all 3 were packed about as full as possible. When they were picked up on Wednesday, the guy from the company laughed at how heavy one of them was.
The trip was fine. We had a bit of difficulty leaving Omaha. I had way more stuff left over than I thought I did, which is why it took us so long to get out the door. Once the car was loaded with the car stuff, which was basically the things that for one reason or other couldn't/shouldn't go into the cubes, and the dog, and us and we were ready to go, it wouldn't start. Dead battery. We finally got on the road at around 3. After a good nights sleep in Michigan City we start driving for day 2 and the battery light comes on. A new alternator and battery later (thank goodness my dad knows all about this stuff and can do the work himself) we make it on our way. The rest of the journey went off without issue and into Burlington we drove on Friday.
Dad left on Sunday.
It's hot and muggy here, so we are now the owners of a dehumidifier and an air conditioner. The little room I am staying in for now is the best room in the whole house because it's cool and dry! Leon is a big lump on the floor right now, all tuckered out from our 5 minutes of play time outside.
I have spent today cleaning and organizing. I kind of took over the main living space in the house, so it needed to be put away and out of the common space. Kind of difficult, but not impossible, with the amount of space I have right now. It's a good thing that this room is only temporary until we can get into our house on the 18th. It will be nice to not be in someone else's space. I hear unpacking is about as much fun as packing.

I am so glad that you made it safely (although longer than you want)! You will have to post pictures of the new place. When do you start work?
