M3 begins

Today was the first official day of my third year. They call today and the next two are called 'June Term'. It is the start of the learning curve - clinical skills. Tomorrow I "get" to get an NG tube. That's a tube that goes in my nose and into my stomach. I am not looking forward to it at all. My first rotation is family medicine. I'll be in little Sidney. Today I got the decision sheet for surgery. It is a two month clerkship. 4 weeks will be general surgery. The other four weeks will be split into two two-week sections. My request: 1. pediatric general surgery 2. Pediatric orthopedics 3. Pediatric urology 4. transplantation 5. cardiac surgery. Can you guess what I'm interested in?

My house is still a mess. I just don't feel like cleaning it all at once. I do a little each day, so maybe by the time I leave in a week and a half, it will be clean.

I have no real plans for July 4. Take it as it comes.

Here is something new I found out about Nebraska. Lightning bugs live here. Who knew? Cool.
