half way

i think it is wednesday, and if it is, i am half way through my rotation. i did rounds the other day by myself. they take out a lot of gall bladders. the two of them can be in and out in 45 minutes.

i basically have access to whatever i want here. all i have to do is say that i am interested in something and i can go see it. they fixed a broken femur the other day. i scrubbed in for that one. actually, i scrub in for almost everything. even though i don't do a whole lot, i am in close and i can do whatever the docs ask, and i can feel and see things that i otherwise wouldn't be able.

the doc that i am set up with is away today. his son is playing in the state golf tournament which isn't being held here in columbus. i have a good deal of down time. i have lots of reading to do still. i need to get through the stuff on the colon, sooner rather than later.

the thing that i am having the hardest time with is food. the hospital is putting me up and has provided me with access to the cafiteria on their dime, but the selection is small and since there are things that i won't eat, the selection is smaller. my fault, not theirs. i think i am getting a little dehydrated too, but that is easy to fix as long as i stay on top of it.

that's all for now.
