I am sitting at work and (amazingly) have some time on my hands. It is going to be a day with a lot of down time and that makes it a long day no matter how many hours I work. I am not even sure if the experiments I am doing today will work. These experiments have many steps and, unfortunately, you don't know if they worked until the end of day 2. Today is day 2 and the end comes at about 2:00. I'll just have to wait and see. We've had successes all week, so we are bound for failure soon. Today didn't start off as I would have liked.
On a totally different note, I found an online schedule for school. Orientation starts on August 16th. That means that I have about two weeks after I return from Pebble Beach to move and get settled. My small dilemma is when should I move? I want to have enough time to be unpacked and be at least a little familiar with the area but I don't want to be there for that long before it all starts. I am not going to know anybody there until I start classes. I have a few connections in Omaha, but it isn't anybody I actually know. These are all people who know somebody I know. I'm glad they are there - at least I can get some direction as to areas to live and where things are. I am afraid I will get lonely and totally bored if there is too much down time before it all starts.
Things are still up in the air about housing in Omaha. Should I rent or should I buy? I think buying would be a good option, but I don't know how the logistics will work out. I am not 100% comfortable just moving into somewhere without really knowing the area. This is where those friends of friends will come in handy.
I am excited about my summer. At the end of May, I go to Knoxville, TN, for the global finals for DI. It is a week of working hard but playing harder. Much sleep will be lost. I will quit work sometime within the first week of July. Then I fly to California for 3+ weeks. I am working at California Summer Music, www.csmusic.org, as the head RA. It is this that will take me to Pebble Beach. I've never been to the area or the camp, but I know a few people who have. It should be a lot of work but a lot of fun too. A good "break" before I head off to school.
I have an hour left before I can do anything.
Oh, and the clock on here isn't correct.
